BOOK OF THE DAY: Before the Hunter Comes by Tony Brooks

by Tony Brooks

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Maria Brandt, a Polish refugee, and her husband Reinhardt, a former Luftwaffe fighter pilot, fled Germany for Australia after World War II. Eager to leave the horrors of war, and the taint of Reinhardt's Nazi relatives behind them, they made new lives for themselves in the farmlands south of Adelaide.

But when Maria's childhood friend Tamara contacts her with threats and accusations of war crimes against Reinhardt if Maria doesn't help Tamara's husband evade Israeli agents, Maria does what she must to protect her family.

The blame for Tamara's death falls upon Maria's innocent half-Aborigine farmhand, though, and Maria must decide how far she will take her deception, and who else she is willing to sacrifice for the sake of Reinhardt and her son.
