BOOK DESCRIPTION
When her lover takes off on a cross-country trip with his ex-wife, Lella York packs her bags and her broken heart and flies to Venice, Italy, where her son Kyle is filming a movie. But Lella's romance hiatus is cut short when the papers name her the femme fatale lover of an iconic Italian actor. And things only get worse when the actor disappears without a trace and Lella's suddenly suspected of his murder. Lella and Kyle criss-cross European borders to escape the rabid Italian paparazzi, but her complications grow when Larry Devin, her misguided lover, shows up in the middle of his own crisis. Mystery turns to tragedy, schemes to disaster, and white lies to outright deceit, as Lella finds herself in a race against time to solve the mystery, reclaim her life, and follow her heart under the glimmer of a Venetian moon.

Convinced her lover is cheating on her with his ex-wife, Lella York is hiding out in Italy. Lella is menopausal and dealing with all the symptoms: raging hormones, hot flashes, and the occasional brain cloud. Stepping briskly into one pile of strange circumstances after another, she finds herself dealing with sudden tabloid celebrity, being suspect in the disappearance of a famous Italian actor, her son's seemingly serious relationship with a spicy little Italian dish, and the hurt feelings of her lover who's shown up half way around the world facing his own crisis as well as Lella's rejection. Maria Grazia Swan mixes all these incidents together in a big, delish Italian bowl and tosses them with a little EVOO and Parmesan to take us on a crazy, fun ride with Lella through Northern Italy and Austria. While it has a little of the suspenseful intensity of Murder Under the Italian Moon, the first Lella York novel, this one is a lot more amusing. Highly recommended for an automobile or airplane trip, a day at the beach or park, or an afternoon by the pool accompanied by a lovely chilled glass of Prosecco.

Death Under the Venice Moon is a great story! Death, romance & mystery! I started reading at 9pm just to see what it was about. I stayed up all night!
Lella York's lover leaves on a trip abroad with his ex-wife, and she's alone feeling vulnerable and betrayed. She packs up and flees to Venice to visit her son, who is acting in a film there.

She is met at the Venice Marco Polo Airport by her son's assistant, Pia Bartolomei. Lella is disappointment that her son isn't there to meet her. Pia explains that Kyle is filming in Rome for a few days, and she will take Lella to the condo, where Kyle stays as a guest of Cruz, a famous italian actor, who is featured in the film.

Cruz, is rarely in residence, but he arrives, unknown to Lella
.
From there, the scenes move quickly. The actor is later missing but was seen with Lella. She is being blamed! A search for Cruz, people who join but are not who you think they are. A long road trip, mystery and wonderful detailed descriptions of places in Italy. There is some added humor, making this book a great read. I'm eager to read the next book in the series.
