BOOK OF THE DAY: The Reluctant Human by Douglas Robbins

by Douglas Robbins

BOOK DESCRIPTION
The American Dream has failed 28 year old Scott Bauman, but then again, he never had much belief in it to start. Reeling from the recent death of his mother and being left by his girlfriend, Scott feels restless and lost. His vibrant past calls to him while his present is filled with regrets and shortcomings from bad decisions. He dutifully plays his role in name brand clothes and watches while others play theirs. Trapped in a data processing job with an online university, Scott is stuck, paralyzed and hiding behind the conventions of a semi "successful life" while knowing it is not enough. Stripped of everything, Scott is driven to discover who he really is again.

AUTHOR BIO

Douglas Robbins left a thankless corporate job to write full time and begin his search for a meaningful life. After years of waking up sick and dreading every day, he decided no more. Believing in a better life, one without the lies, materialism and manipulations of Corporate America, he left it all behind and never looked back.

Now, Douglas rides his motorcycle "Red" around the country. He enjoys meeting new people from all walks of life, searching for the inspired America in which he had only previously heard about. The Reluctant Human is Douglas' first novel in a planned series of three. Follow Douglas and his work at www.DouglasRobbinsAuthor.com.

This review is from: The Reluctant Human (Paperback)
A powerful book that stuck with me long after I was done reading it, and left me eager for more. Not a quick read you want to skim through. This heartfelt story must be read slowly and each word savored to truly appreciate the depth and beauty of the writing. Many authors do not dare go into the deep, dark places where Douglas Robbins casts a refreshing light. This is as gritty, real and honest as it gets. I loved the ending and cannot wait for more from this truly talented author.
