BOOK OF THE DAY: A Different Kind of Forever by Dee Ernst

by Dee Ernst

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Michael Carlucci, the hot, young musical genius behind the successful rock band, NinetySeven, knows that he’s found the woman for him. Diane Matthews is not just beautiful and smart, she’s got an infectious passion for everything in her life, from her three daughters to her new play. For him, the search is over. He knows they belong together.

For Diane, it’s not as simple. She’s almost twenty years older than Michael. She’s not interested in remarrying – she’s very happy with her life just the way it is, thank you very much. But she can’t deny the growing attraction between them – and it’s not just his touch that she craves. But it’s not until Michael is gone and an old love returns that she realizes just what he meant to her. He said he would love her forever. Can she trust that? Or should she find a safer route to happiness?

A Different Kind of Forever is the story about two complicated people finding – and trying to hold on – to love.

Diane Matthews is smart, educated, sexy and practical. Divorced, with three daughters, Diane is not looking for romance, and certainly not with a man nearly the same age as her eldest daughter. But fate has a hand in things when a pastrami-loving dog accosts Diane for her sandwich and his owner comes to her rescue.

Michael Carlucci, keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter for a hot rock band meets Diane quite by accident in the park when his dog pursues the tantalizing scent of Diane's pastrami sandwich. Despite a nearly twenty-year age difference, Michael is bowled over by the beautiful Diane. He invited her to lunch, then dinner a couple nights later. Diane finds herself attracted to Michael, but the age difference convinces her nothing can come of it. Michael, on the other hand, feels he has found the woman of his dreams. Convincing Diane to give the relationship a chance is another matter.

Ms. Ernst has penned a delightful romance, filled with the unexpected. Great pacing, snappy dialogue and heart-thumping sensual scenes should charm the pickiest reader, but it is her portrayal of Michael that will steal your heart. He is sensitive, gorgeous, wise beyond his years and so utterly wonderful that he steals the show. Diane has very realistic worries about the age difference, how her daughters will react and how the romance will change her comfortable life. Then an old flame comes to town and she is forced to make difficult choices.

I loved this story. There are a few editing problems, but the writing was so good and the story so engaging that I could let them go. I finished the book in two sittings and was thoroughly satisfied with the ending.

Brava Ms. Ernst for allowing me to suspend my disbelief and enjoy Diane's and Michael's journey.
